Relatively smooth seas, although we have a long Pacific swell. We are making 18 knots. A quiet day, paperwork and then in the late afternoon and evening, some cocktail parties to attend.
I heard this evening that Easter Island now has a National Park, presumably a way of making more $, as they now charge $60 to enter at certain places; one of them being at Anekana, on the north coast, which was my intended landing point for guests. I chose Anekana because, being on the north of the island, there should be some lee, (shelter) from the Pacific swell. My only alternative is off Hanga Piko, the main town, which is on the west side, this will be in the swell and may make tendering difficult. I’m in a quandary, the $60 fee is ‘optional’ in Hanga Piko, on the other hand it may be awkward for tender operations.
I’m going to look there first and assess the situation, if it’s impossible, then I’ll have to bite the bullet and retrace my steps back to Anekana.
