I know, I haven’t posted for a few days. I’m actually on voyage 369, a 14-day cruise through Alaska, as far as Anchorage, Homer and Kodiak.
Pressure of work is to blame, or, more to the point, the pesky fog has been hanging around off the Hecate Straits and Queen Charlotte Islands, the west coast of Vancouver Island and the Juan de Fuca Straits. All-in-all we’ve had quite a few days of it and as a consequence, many hours on the Bridge with fog-horn blowing.
The good news about the week was that once we reached (found? ) Alaska, the weather was glorious, some of the nicest we have seen.
We managed to get close to the Sawyer Glacier in Tracy Arm, The evening after departing Juneau was stunning, the setting sun turning mountains mauve and orange, the icefield reflecting the rays.
