Dear readers, this post has taken me almost an hour to get on paper. We have been without satellite communications for 24 hours; the South America satellite is low on the horizon and blocked by our funnels. As a consequence, I have been ‘weaving’ along our intended track, putting the satellite either on our port or starboard quarter and regaining a modicum of signal. The challenge is that it is very weak, each time I have tried to write this and let you know, we lose it.
Optimistically, we will soon be in the Pacific satellites footprint and normal service will resume 😎 I can tell you, briefly, that my two left feet functioned to some degree and the Black and Silver ball was a huge success, photos should follow when I can download them. Until then I have put in a ‘reminder’ to tell you about the Aida Grunsworthy Dance formation team, Way back in the 70’s I had the (dubious) privilege of being a member.
I must get this online, before I lose the signal, (again), until later……
Dear Captain Jonathan
Reading your January 16 blog I now realize how difficult it must have been for you and your staff to satisfy those of us who have come to rely on a constant and perfect internet, where ever we go! Someday technology is bound to catch up and make life easier for the seafarer and his passengers. We thoroughly enjoyed being passengers on that sterling voyage the 2014 Worldcruise was.
With kind regards,
Jorgen & Anna Soendergaard
I always feel I am communicating with a long time friend!
As always, a wonderful blog Captain
Many thanks indeed
Noel in Melbourne Au
Love it!! Bet your passengers were unhappy! Oh well, plenty to do on board!
There’s a rumor floating around you’ll be a strong competitor on Dancing with the Stars at Sea due to your the Aida Grunsworthy Dance formation team experience, Captain 😉
