2nd September

We are in Ketchikan today, having had a mainly sunny week although a strong North-Easter greeted us at the beginning of the week while we were in the Inside Passage.  It made for an ‘interesting’ arrival and departure from Juneau, with 50 mph winds in the inner channels.

Again, this will be a medley of photos. K1 is with me this week (and the next), so I have actually put my feet on dry land, the first time I have done so since joining the Amsterdam in Seattle.  It’s ‘downhill’ soon, time has flown by, our last cruise in Alaska this year is 18th to the 25th.

We heard this week that the Amsterdam will be on a 14-day itinerary in 2017, out of Seattle on a Monday and this pleases us enormously, it’s a great itinerary and one we have done before.

  1. Enjoyed the Sitka photos, not a port I had visited
Golf holidays for me in 2017 then looking forward to joining you Jan 2018 on the Amsterdam. Plan the big party before Sydney please!

  2. Beautiful. Did Alaska 15 years ago. Maybe 2017 for 2 weeks. Hi to K1 from K3.

  3. Captain Jonathan

Great photos particularly Sitka. We sailed with you ex Seattle (Sept 13 2015) and you may recall Sitka greeted us with rain! So we don’t have any exciting photos of that port of call.

  4. What a lovely day in Sitka! It’s one of our favorite ports. As always, it’s great to see such great sights though your eyes!

  5. Looks like lovely weather in a fabulous land. Happy days to you all. Glad to hear about Amsterdam going back to the 14 day itineraries next year.

  6. Beautifully shot as usual Captain‼️
Thank you for taking the time to allow us to travel with you.
    Safe travels

  7. Have very much enjoyed your blog since WC 2016 entries. I am joining the 2017 WC and look forward to meeting you and the rest of the crew for my first-ever world cruise! I’ve sailed on the Amsterdam several times previously – she’s my favorite ship in the fleet.

  8. Wonderful photos, as always, Captain!
I so hope that that glorious weather lasts all month, as we, too, will be sailing to Alaska the week of the 18th to 25th; however we will be on the Noordam.

  9. Glad to hear your lovely wife is with you. If I remember correctly your anniversary is soon so I assume you will be celebrating in the Pinnacle Grill.

  10. Just waiting for the shopping pictures!
    Kind regards also to K1
